Korea Day 2012 @ Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre

안녕~

Last Sunday I went to Korea Day 2012 at Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre with my friend (actually, 우리 언니). Hehe. We went there around 11 am and there were many booths still not open yet (or maybe they didn't open because it was the last day).

First thing we do over there was medical check up for blood pressure, sugar, and body fat by Sunway Healthcare staff. After that we signed up for Kimchi cooking class where they teach you how to make Kimchi and prepare other food using Kimchi. They prepared for us Pancake Kimchi (김치전) and Kimchi Fried Rice (김치 볶음밥). The food is very delicious!

Chef set up ingredients used in Kimchi for visitor
They cook Kimchi Fried Rice on the spot.

Pose with Janggo (Korea Traditional Drum)
I shamelessly asked for men's hanbok since they didn't have women's hanbok that fits on me.

투호 (Tuho) - Traditional Game

We watched several performances on that day too. Traditional dance - fan dance, drum dance. Special performance from Natalie Band. They covered Gangnam Style and Roly Poly dance. Natalie, the founder, was a professional dance choreographer in Korea before she married and moved here. All the members are housewives!

See you next time Korea Day 2013! :)

Korean Family Names

Annyeong! :)

Suddenly I want to name a few of my favourite Korean celebrities.

SHINee Choi Minho - SHINee Lee Taemin - 2AM Jo Kwon - BEG Son Gain - Jang Keun Suk - Park Shin Hye - Lee Hong Ki - CNBLUE Jung Yong Hwa - Kim Hee Chul - Kim Jae Joong - Song Ji Hyo

If you can see, the word in different colour above is Korean family names. According to Ask A Korean, there are meaning behind each name. For example 김 [Kim] means gold, 이 [Lee] means plum tree, 박 [Park/Pak] means Magnolia tree and 최[Choi] means pinnacle.

Some common Korean family names:-

강 [Kang], 권 [Kwon], 김 [Kim], 박 [Park], 이 [Lee], 유 [Yoo], 윤 [Yoon], 류 [Ryu], 하 [Ha], 한 [Han]

But did you know that even though some people share the same family name, they might not have any family relationship at all. Why? Seoulistic come to help.

What is the first name appear in your mind for each of family names above?
Mine is Kang Sora, Kwon Jiyong, Kim Heechul, Park Yejin, Lee Hyori, Yoo Jaesuk, Yoon Dujun, Ryu Siwon, Ha Jiwon, Han Gain.

Have a 'Wonder Girls' weekend, 여러분! ^^

Belajar Bahasa Korea - Perkenalkan Diri

Dah lama sangat tak update post Belajar Bahasa Korea, jadi kali ni kita belajar / ulangkaji macam mana nak memperkenalkan diri dalam bahasa Korea secara asas ye.

Ayat yang selalu digunakan:-
안녕하세요
annyeonghasaeyo
– Hai / Apa khabar?

안녕히 가세요
annyeongi gasaeyo
– Selamat jalan (diucapkan kepada mereka yang pergi)

안녕히 계세요
annyeongi gyesaeyo
– Selamat tinggal.

(만나서) 반가워요
mannaseo bangaweoyo
– Gembira berjumpa awak.
*kalau nak cakap 반가워요 sahaja pun takpe

이름이 뭐예요?
Iremi muoyeyo
– Apakah nama awak?

Masih belum boleh membaca huruf Hangul? Boleh lihat post berkaitan Huruf Hangul.

Dialog #1

가 : 안녕하세요. 저는 김재중이에요.
annyeonghasaeyo. Cheonen Kim Jae Joong-iyeyo.
- Apa khabar? Saya Kim Jae Joong.

나 : 안녕하세요. 저는 이준기예요.
annyeonghasaeyo. Cheonen i Jun Ki-yeyo.
- Apa khabar? Saya Lee Jun Ki.

NOTA

-이에요 / -예요 adalah penutup ayat yang menunjukkan identiti seseorang / sesuatu.

Contoh:

저는 선생님이에요.
seonsaengnim-iyeyo.
- Saya seorang guru.

Ada 받침 (batchim), pakai -이에요. Takde batchim, guna -예요.

Contoh ada batchim:-

김 재
konsonan di hujung perkataan itulah batchim, jadi kena guna -이에요.

저는 김재중이에요.

Contoh takde batchim pula:-

이 준
Perkataan diakhiri dengan huruf vokal. Jadi guna -예요.

저는 이준기예요.

Jangan risau, nanti kita cuba cover topik batchim kemudian.

Soalan untuk para pembaca harini, 이름이 뭐예요? ^^,
