Seoul, South Korea Trip #7: Visiting HongMina's Cafe

Hehehe. I'm one of happy fan. Well, as a fan, I couldn't resist to visit every filming locations. Okay, if cannot go to all the places, I should go to the most meaningful place of all, for example, their first date location.

We went to Paju on our third day in Seoul. Yep, we plan to cover places that are far from Seoul, then, after that, we will walk around Seoul.

From Euljiro Station (the nearest subway station from our hostel), it took around 2 hours (almost 50km) to Paju or to be exact Heyri Art Village. Total fare to the place is KRW2,700.

(Video) Naver Map Street View

Girls Generation Hostel neighbourhood scenery.
In Malaysia, Google just started to drive their cars to record street view, August this year. We would see street view in Malaysia soon, I guess. Last time I saw in my Twitter timeline, Google Camera installed in a boat to record Malacca River View.

Seoul, South Korea Trip #6: The Garden of Morning Calm, Petite France and Nami Island

On the next day, we woke up early in the morning to go to Cheongpyeong Station.

Why Cheongpyeong Station?

We plan to go to Petite France and Nami Island by taking Gapyeong Shuttle Bus. The hop on hop off bus stop at Cheongpyeong Station before go to Petite France.

How to go to Cheongpyeong Station?

From our guesthouse, we took subway from Euljiro 3-ga Line 2 to go there. We had to change the train two times, at Wangshimni Station and at Sangbong Station. The ride cost us KRW1,750 (T-Money) and took about 1 hour 20 minutes to arrive at Cheongpyeong Station.

You can refer to this Naver Map for the train ride.

Seoul, South Korea Trip #5: Grilled Fish Restaurant in Sinchon

Packed with people.
Note: This restaurant serves pork dishes.

The restaurant name is Gosami (고삼이). The main dish here is grilled fish.

We order one big grilled Spanish Mackerel (KRW8,500). It is the most expensive grilled fish over there. And we ordered another dish, Spicy Squid (KRW6,500) or in Malaysia we called it Sambal Sotong.

Seoul, South Korea Trip #4: Myeongdong, Egg Muffin and Super Junior

Cross this road and there you see, Myeongdong is in front of you.

This is another post about my trip to Seoul last October. This is the fourth post but my first day story isn't finish yet. Can you believe that?

My friends and I check in around 12pm. We arrived earlier than that actually. It's just because we need to wait for some time for them to clean up our room.

We unpacked our bags, ate brunch, and sleep.

In our itinerary, we should go to Itaewon after checked in and rest a bit because it's Hari Raya Haji (Eid al-Adha). We want to go to the central mosque to join muslim in Korea celebrating the day.

Seoul, South Korea Trip #3: Girls Generation Hostel (Part 2)

Hello handsome men and beautiful women.

Let me continue my Seoul, South Korea trip story. Today I will introduce you to Girls Generation Hostel (GG Hostel) - we stayed here for 8 days. I will let you know why later.

The hostel is located near Eullijro 3-ga subway station. Near police station too. We're talking about safety here, girls. Haha. Even though I think Seoul is pretty safe if you want to go there alone.

The owner, Mr. Kang is really helpful and kind. Until the day we check out, if we want something like universal travel adapter, he will gladly lend it to us. If you want only one adapter, expect to receive more than one.

Seoul, South Korea #2: T-Money & Girls Generation Hostel (Part 1)

We arrived at Incheon International Airport around 8:25am (Malaysia time: 7:25am).

First thing that we do when we arrived is to buy T-Money card. It is essential to have it. More like TouchNGo card here. You can use it to pay for train fare, bus fare or your goods at conveniences store like 7Eleven, GS25, and CU (Previously known as Family Mart). You can buy it for KRW3,000 per card.

The card is empty and we reload it using reload machine in front of train station. Now, off we go to Girls Generation Hostel!

Girls Generation Hostel located near Exit 7, Euljiro 3-ga subway station. It will take around 1 hour 20 minute from Incheon International Airport station and cost KRW3,950 if you pay using your T-Money.

From Incheon International Airport Station, we have to change to Line 2 at Hongdae station. Since Euljiro 3-ga is available in Line 2 or Line 3 and then exit at Exit No. 7.

Tips:
Use Naver Map to plan your journey and estimate the cost. Other blog wrote (in Malay language) about Naver Map too.

Expense:
1. T-Money: KRW3,000
2. Reload T-Money: KRW40,000

Seoul, South Korea Trip #1: The Day

Finally! It's the day!

I feel very nervous on this day. The day my friends and I go to Seoul, South Korea.

I plan to go to airport at 6pm because my flight is at 1 o'clock in the morning. So, don't need to rush. But really, it's my mistake. The next day is Raya Haji in Malaysia. It's public holiday here. I should expect there will not many buses or taxis that time. Silly me.

I took taxi to the nearest train station. It cost me MYR6. Then, ride a train to Masjid Jamek and need to change to Kelana Jaya line train. From Masjid Jamek straight to KL Sentral station.

I Hope MBC Won't Cancel We Got Married Program

Yes. I really hope MBC would not stop this program. Not for my sake, but for celebrity sake. Hurm, maybe a little bit for my entertainment. Haha.

Even though some K-netizens didn't like this program, calling it is not interesting and should be canceled, and the lower rating make it worse. But people, especially celebrities, cannot deny that this program sparks their popularity. Well that's why they join variety show on the first thing, isn't it?

When MBC introduced Global version, they bring this show to a new level by broadcast it on other countries and upload the infamous Behind The Scene on Youtube. This program is so well received by foreign fans.

One more point is, more advantage to the celebrities. They can date publicly. Haha. Well, some of them debut from teenage like Taemin and it'll be hard for him to go on date or at least experience normal couple date.

This is a program that make fans stress but make celebrities happy. Haha. And there is possibility this program to be a matchmaker if Lee So Yeon and Yoo Han be the first WGM couple to marry for real. Don't put your hope so high though.

I end this post with a quote from Michael Hyatt's Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World:-
Why do you think reality television is so popular? People crave for transparency and authenticity. They long to connect with real people living real lives. It gives them perspective and helps them see that their lives are normal.

What do you think? Should MBC keep this program running or cancel it?

When DramaCrazy is Gone

I used to watch drama at DramaCrazy.net and when the site is gone, I don't have favourite site to watch new drama. But glad that I finish watching Nine before that.

So, for few months, I watched We Got Married Global and become an avid fan of Daramji Couple (Hongki & Fujii Mina). My favourite place to hangout at that time is Hongki Mina GWGM Official Soompi Thread.

Because I didn't find any good streaming site, I've been reading new drama recaps like I Hear Your Voice and Good Doctor on DramaBeans. The recaps is so good. It's like watching the drama and I have to say thanks to them for saving me an hour from watching the video. It's not that I don't watch the drama at all. After reading the recaps, I can choose which scene and episode I want to watch. This way, I don't have withdrawal syndrome after the drama end.

(Drama) Nine: Time Travel

Korea Drama: Nine

I just finished watching this tvN's drama - Nine: Time Travel (나인: 아홉 번의 시간여행).

This drama is surprisingly great! No wonder this drama received high feedback score from more than 3000 netizen with 9.8 / 10.

Using time travel theme like Queen In Hyun's Man, you can expect a lot of flashback and fast forward scenes. I guess that's why I had headache while watching episode 10.

The actors did well to portray their character in this 20 episodes drama.

Storyline:
Park Sun Woo ( Lee Jin wook) is an anchorman in CBM. His mother is sick, his brother is dead and he is going to die soon because of brain tumor. He went to Nepal to collect his brother's belongings including an incense. The inspector told him that his brother's body was found with the incense in his hand.

What I love about this drama?
Chemistry between the main actors - Lee Jin Wook and Jo Yoon Hee
The storyline.

Lesson learned:
Going back to the past to change your life is risky (if possible) and you can mess up your future. Just live your life to the fullest everyday.

Watch this drama @ DramaCrazy: Nine: Nine Time Travels

Free Korean Language Class - July 2013 Intake

안녕하세요.

Korea Plaza's free Korean Language class is open for July 2013 intake. As usual, the class will be held once a week for 3 months.

Check the class schedule

I am bit surprise when I see the schedule because they add 2 new class - Survival Korean & Level 3!

I am tempting to attend the class since the two new classes will be taught by my dear teacher, Ms. Tiara. She is such a lovely and caring teacher (선생님). I learn a lot about language and also Korean culture from her. She always has interesting story to tell. I still remember the story she told about how Hangul were created by King Sejong.

This is a reminder for me as well. If you want to attend the class, please show your commitment. Korea Plaza have provide this free classes and we should appreciate their effort, especially the teacher's effort. Now I feel guilty. -.-"

By the way, the next TOPIK (Korean Language Proficiency Test) exam date is 20th October. Registration should be around August. I really want to take test but I will be in Korea on that day. Let's have speaking test with people there! Hehe.

(Drama) The Queen of Office

There are few new dramas that I'm watching now. I love dramas broadcasted on Monday and Tuesday. The Queen of Office (KBS) and Gu Family Book (MBC).

SPOILER ALERT!

The Queen of Office or in Korean 직장의신 (jikjangishin).

직장 - workplace
의 - showing belong to what. Like 's in english. Johnny's eraser.
신 - Goddess. Something like that.

This drama is about life of Korean contract worker. They're struggling just to get the job and then have to worry if the contract will be renewed after 3 months. They have to do minor work which permanent staff won't do like stapling paper, copy worksheet, and cutting paper for recycle. Discrimination in office between permanent staff and contract staff.

Juri is a freshman with a study loan and house rent to be paid. While Juri have to convince the two Sales & Marketing managers of YJang - Manager Jang and Manager Mu to hire her, Miss Kim is a professional contract worker invited by YJang.

Ms. Kim is mysterious woman. She doing work exactly like what stated in her manual - yes, Ms. Kim's Manual - and contract. Other than that, she should receive overtime pay. And she strictly doesn't want to get along with her office mates because from her view, after her contract finish, they won't see each other again. So why bother to try to get along and know each other.

Other important characters are Jang Gyujik (Marketing Team Head) and Mu Jeonghan (Support Team Head). These four people - Juri, Ms. Kim, Gyujik & Jeonghan - somehow connected with each other.

Flashback few years before.
It is a Christmas night. A group singing Christmas carol. Juri sits with her boyfriend at the bench. Her boyfriend propose her and they kiss. FRU (Special Unit Force to handle street rally.) officer cheering the couple from their bus. And suddenly, a bank nearby them explode. Juri see a woman run to the exploded bank. Wanted to get in because her office mate still in there.

Juri - being proposed by her boyfriend.
Ms. Kim - The woman who run to the exploded bank.
Mu Jeonghan - He went for his army service and appointed to FRU.
Jang Gyujik -  His mother is Ms. Kim's office mate. Her mother died on that day.

Comment:
I like this drama. The storyline is good. Maybe because I have experienced life as a job seeker so I can relate a few things about that in this drama. I kind of surprise to see that this drama ends on 16th episode.

Trip To Korea Plan #1

I'll go to Korea this October with my friends. So it will be only 3 of us who will go there. We have a very tight budget and some more don't know where to go but still insist doing backpacking. We have this idea of we will go wherever our legs take us. Yeah. We just made up some plan just to get idea where to start exploring.

We have like 9 days after exclude arrival and departure day. By the way, korean won is expensive. Almost equal to US dollar here. For example, 1 USD is around MYR3.10 and 1,000 won (천원) is around MYR3.00.

We met few days ago to discuss about the trip. We still can't decide where we'll sleep but we have plan for places to go.

First day
- Just explore places nearby our hostel.
- Find basic tools and information to survive over there such as mobile phone (in case we got lost), T-Money and convenience store location.

Second day (History day)
- Go to palaces and Hanok village. Something like that

Third day
- Go further away. Petite France, Nami Island and somewhere else.
Even though Nami Island is not on our favorite list but since everyone here who came back from Korea have been there and that is the only place my parents know about Korea. So, just let's go over there to take picture!

Fourth day
- Namsan Tower, Teddy Bear Museum, Itaewon / Lotte World

Fifth day
- Explore shopping places. Just to take a feel first and try to learn how to bargain there.

Sixth day
- Hangang Park, MBC and KBS

Seventh day
- Go To Mall.

Eighth Day
- Maybe wander around KPOP fans favourite places.

Ninth day
- Do final shopping. Wander around some more. Sleep at airport maybe because our flight is at early in the morning.

Do drop a comment if you have any idea or a good suggestion of places that we should visit in our trip to Korea. See ya!

My Favourite We Got Married Couple

One of the most popular Korean variety show - We Got Married (WGM). Sorry to those whose didn't like the show but I do love the show and I watch it every week.

Even though people said, "WGM is a lie.", "Only for delusional fans." and what so ever but I still like the show as a variety show. Even sometimes I thought that the couple looks good together, wish they will become a real couple but that's it. As long as I have fun watch them every week.

My favourite We Got Married couples...so far.

1. Adam couple
Credit: SujuSaranghae
One of the best We Got Married couple. - Jo Kwon & Gain

2. Jungin & Jungchi couple
I love this couple! They're dating for almost 11 years. Hope We Got Married help them to get married for real. Update: They are going to register their marriage this month and spend time with family from both sides.

3. Taemin & Naeun couple
It's good to see Taemin's other side. He is married right now but I still look him as SHINee's cute and adorable maknae.

4. Hongki & Fujii Mina couple
This one also cute and adorable couple from We Got Married Global Edition. Should I say, they look so great and compatible with each other. I hope Hongki treats Mina well even after the show and makes her forget gap between you two, since you are HongStar, Hongki-ah.

How To Put Subtitle In Video - Aegisub Tutorial

google image from kshownow.net
You love watching Korean/Japanese drama and you need to watch it with subtitle to understand what is going on in the drama (even though most of avid drama watchers have that strong instinct about the whole story.) Well, let's see how the translator team do most of the subbed video. I bet you will have more patient to wait for the translator team to release the video after this.

Thanks to my sister for the tutorial. She taught me well how to use Aegisub with a lot of screaming than normal talk. Hehe.

A) Applications needed for this
# Aegisub<http://www.aegisub.org/>
# VirtualDub <http://www.virtualdub.org/>
# Video Converter – it’s safer to convert the video to AVI format since VirtualDub cannot
process some other video formats.

B) The Different Between ‘Hardsubs’ and ‘Softsubs’?
+ Hardsubs – Subtitles that are encoded directly into the video image and cannot be
removed or altered.
+ Softsubs–Subtitles that are stored separately from the video image. It can be enabled or
disabled. Depending on the format of the softsubs, the way that it’s appear
onscreen may be customizable.

(Taken from http://www.darksmurfsub.com/)

START TO MAKE ONE!
1) Choose a video. Type or copy the subtitle in the notepad and save it as Text Documents
(*.txt).
Separate the subtitle line with enter.

2) Open Aegisub. **Make sure to convert your video into AVI first to make it easier.**

3) Open File > Open Subtitles... andclick on your subtitle.

4) Open Video > Open Video... and choose the video for the subtitle. **Remember to convert
your video into AVI because the timecodes and frames maydiffer from other video files.**

5) Open Audio > Open Audio from Video.

You can adjust the horizontal zoom and vertical zoom at the right side of the audio corner to zoom in. For me, it’s easier to make the timing for the subtitle.

6) Now that everything is ready, you can proceed for the timing of the subtitle.

7) Make the video smaller and the audio bigger. *The video functions as to check your timing
and the style for the subtitle. The subtitle will be shown on the video.*

8) Click on the line you want to time. Select its audio by clicking it on the sound wave and
listen to the audio for confirmation using ‘Play selection’ button. Then, click the ‘Commit’
button to apply the time from the audio to the selected line.

9) After you finish the timing, it’s time to edit the font and the color of the subtitle.

10) Open Subtitles > Styles Manager…

11) Click ‘Edit’ button at the bottom. Now, you can rename the style, change the font, the
color and the position of the selected line.

12) After that, click the ‘OK’ button or the ‘Apply’ button.

13) Choose the customized style at the ‘Catalog of available storages’ on the top. The
customized style will show up at the ‘Storage’. Click ‘Copy to current script ->’ button
and close the styles manager.

14) Choose the customized style at the ‘Style for this line’ box below the audio corner, beside
the ‘Comment’ box. Then, click the ‘Commit’ button.

15) Lastly, save the subtitle as Advanced Substation Alpha (*.ass).

16) Finish! But! If you want to put the subtitle permanently into the video (hardsubs), you
need to use VirtualDub (refer to the notes at the top).

17) Open VirtualDub, open File > Open video file… and choose your video.

18) Open Video > Filters…> Add…>TextSub by Gabest and choose the corresponding
subtitle.

19) Open File > Save as AVI > OK.

20) Now you can watch the video without turning on the caption.

++ Remember, this is only for beginner.
++ This tutorial is based on my own experience. So, some instructions may differ from
other tutorials.

CNBLUE Blue Moon Tour 2013 Live in Kuala Lumpur

4 days left before CNBLUE Blue Moon Tour 2013 Live in Kuala Lumpur's ticket launching. This is the first time CNBLUE will come to Malaysia. Thank to Daol Entertainment for bringing them here.

CNBLUE and FT Island are the two Korean bands that I treasure because they make KPOP world more interesting with their music and instead showing their charm through dancing, they are way better with music instruments.

I really love Ear Fun album. All the songs are great to listen. Well, you can say that CNBLUE makes me learn how to play guitar even though their songs is not very easy for beginner to learn. Haha.

Don't forget to come and see their performance on 24th August 2013 at Stadium Negara.
