Seoul, South Korea Trip #6: The Garden of Morning Calm, Petite France and Nami Island

On the next day, we woke up early in the morning to go to Cheongpyeong Station.

Why Cheongpyeong Station?

We plan to go to Petite France and Nami Island by taking Gapyeong Shuttle Bus. The hop on hop off bus stop at Cheongpyeong Station before go to Petite France.

How to go to Cheongpyeong Station?

From our guesthouse, we took subway from Euljiro 3-ga Line 2 to go there. We had to change the train two times, at Wangshimni Station and at Sangbong Station. The ride cost us KRW1,750 (T-Money) and took about 1 hour 20 minutes to arrive at Cheongpyeong Station.

You can refer to this Naver Map for the train ride.

We arrived at Cheongpyeong Station around 9:40 am. We're not quite sure to exit at which side so we turned left after going down from the platform. We went to tourism info counter there to ask where to get the bus and the ahjumma staffs were very friendly and helpful even though they can't speak English very well.

Going down the escalator.

The staffs told us to wait for the bus at the other side or station and recommend to us to go to The Garden of Morning Calm first since the next bus will go there or else we have to wait until 11.30 am for Petite France bus.

Three happy girls in Korea.

We couldn't make it for the 10.05 am bus because we stopped by at convenience store to buy drink and went to toilet. So, we left behind. Next time, I will wear a watch when go to travel to have a better sense of time. It was hard to depends only on mobile phone to see what time is it.

Hills right in front of the bus stop.

In Cheongpyeong Station, the weather was not as cold as in Seoul. Warm enough for outdoor activities in Spring. There a big green hills in front of the station. Very different scenery with the city Seoul.

This is the hop on hop off bus - Gapyeong shuttle bus.

At 11.05 am, we took the Gapyeong shuttle bus to The Garden of Morning Calm. The bus fare is KRW5,000 (RM15) and you can use the ticket for the whole day. It took 20 minutes to go to the garden.

Shops outside of the garden.

Beautiful flowers for sale.

Lodge if you would like to spent your holiday here.

We didn't go inside the Garden because we want to catch the 12.00 pm bus to Petite France. If you want to go the Garden, the admission fee is KRW8,000 (RM24) for adult, KRW6,000 (RM18) for youth and KRW5,000 (RM15) for children.

Petite France entrance.
Resting from the dizzy bus ride.

At 12.50 pm, we arrived at Petite France. We're not in good state when we going out from the bus. Butterfly in my stomach. Seriously. I know the bus driver only do his job to stay in schedule but the way his driving the bus made my head spinning. Entrance fee is KRW8,000 (adult) but we got 25% discount coupon at KTO website and paid KRW6,000 only.

House in Petite France.

Feeling like we're in western country.

Little kids playing with the Marionette backdrop.

Petite France is the filming location for Running Man , Beethoven Virus and Secret Garden. It's not a big place actually. You probably can finish walking all around Petite France in 1 hour 30 minutes. We watched an interesting Marionette puppet show in the Colosseum after left behind by bus again. Hahaha.

Nami Island map.

At 4.15 pm, we arrived at bus stop nearby Nami Island ferry terminal (?). Bought a return ticket KRW8,000 (RM24) and off we went to Nami Island by ferry. Last ferry to the island at 5.00 pm.

On the way to eat Kimchi Dosirak.

Actually, we didn't really excited to go to Nami Island. But the place is famous among Malaysians, including my mom and aunts, so we, somewhat have to go there - to eat Kimchi Dosirak. KRW5,000 for the dosirak.

We came back to hostel around 9.30 pm. Tired but happy.
