Valentine Day & White Day in Korea

This is what has been told to me by my korean language teacher.

Everybody know that 14th February is Valentine Day. The day where there is so much love in the air. Hehehe. But in Korea, it's been their culture that on Valentine Day, only women will buy chocolate and give to their boyfriends. If they don't have boyfriends, they will just give chocolate to their male friends and family member. My 선생님 said, if a man didn't receive a chocolate on that day, he will feel very sad.

A month after Valentine Day which is 14th March is White Day. The man will give candy to woman he likes. This is the day men have do some kind of reply to women. On 14th March, if a woman didn't receive candy, it's her turn to feel sad.

So readers, you can expect to see a lot of chocolate everywhere in February and every kind of candy in March if you happen to visit Korea on these months.

By the way, did you know that actually Black Day exist in Korea?

Black Day happen every 14th April. Yup! A month after White Day. On this day, single man and single woman will go out together and eat Jajangmyun (Black bean noodles). But my teacher said, long time ago, Korean people only eat Jajangmyun on special day but nowadays, people eat Jajangmyun on daily.

Till then. Have a good day everyone! :)
