Variety show with family theme is one of the popular trend right now in Korea with more variety show with the same theme such as Mama Mia (KBS), Dad Where Are You Going? (MBC) and my favourite family variety show for now, The Return of Superman (KBS).
If you happen to watch entertainment news section like Entertainment Weekly, they once cover about the popularity of this theme in variety show.
In The Return of Superman, four dads will have to take care of their children for 48 hours without the wife. It's great to see the other side of celebrities dad apart of their appearance on stage, in TV or movie.
Lee Hwi-jae, a famous MC, having trouble to take care of his twin sons, Seo-jun and Seo-on, alone.
Jang Hyeon-seong, an actor, learning the other side of his growing up two sons, Jun-woo and Jun-seo, that he never knew before.
Tablo, rapper/composer, seeing his daughter, Haru, talent and spending more time with her.
Chu Sung-hoon, a fearless fighter, being a cute and reliable dad for his daughter, Sarang.
After a while I have been a dedicated viewer for other variety show like We Got Married and Running Man, this show suddenly grab me into it with its full of family love and understanding. There are moments, the four fathers, show a soft side of them when relate their children to their past and their relationship with parents.
I hope they build more memories together and its a good thing, the memories is recorded by the cameramen. I believe sometimes we only know that side of us from someone else point of view.
Just because you don't see it, doesn't mean your father is not there for you. He is there. For you. The real superman in your life.
